I’m a mom, teacher, and certified life coach specializing in helping folks with ADHD and challenges with executive functioning.
I work with adults, college students, and adolescents to support greater success around:
For the past twenty years, I have worked as an educator and private tutor of students in middle school through college. My journey to becoming a coach began after struggling for several years to help my oldest son manage his ADHD and feeling overwhelmed by the amount of information out there, not knowing where to start. I quickly realized that in order to be the advocate he needed me to be, the first step was a solid and robust education of ADHD and how it affects daily life.
Through my growth and shift in perspective, I learned that the most-effective way to support my son was by helping him discover his strengths and teaching him how to use them. In learning to work with his brain instead of against it, he was happier because he felt comfortable in being exactly who he is. He understood that just because his brain is different, that doesn’t make it wrong or bad.
When I saw how my knowledge and training was able to help him, my journey turned into one of helping others learn to successfully navigate a world that can be uninviting, and oftentimes unaccepting, of those whose brain works differently than what we have been told is ‘normal’.
I believe that the ADHD brain offers much more than what others first see.
Whether you have struggled with what you think might be ADHD, received a formal diagnosis early on, are a recently diagnosed adult, have a loved one with ADHD, or just feel that there is a better, easier, or more efficient way to go through life, I would like to help.
My hope for all my clients is to:
As your coach, my job is to meet you where you are to help you become the fullest version of yourself. Our work together is based on trust and an understanding that your brain may not work the same way as others, but that does not make you less than. "Allison has the keen ability to not only intently listen and understand the situation/ issue at hand but also help me come up with a solid, sound, effective plan. Her perspective is like no other. Allison's superior skills and experience allow her the special ability to truly hear what her clients are saying and compassionately help in a way that is most productive." - J.W.
"Allison has been a savior for our high school age sons (enrolled in a rigorous private school). Her nurturing approach enables our boys to feel safe sharing academic challenges, while concurrently holding them accountable. By scheduling set sessions with Allison, their schoolwork and organization dramatically improved, as did their attitude towards subjects previously loathed. More importantly, thanks to her mentoring and ability to explain technical dynamics of ADHD, our family stress is mitigated as our parenting style towards academics improved (more inspiration, less exasperation). Allison has a unique blend of clinical and affable skills, and we are grateful for her counsel." -S.S.
